What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a naturally occuring state you've already experienced thousands of times. It is not manipulation, mind control, or magic.  You cannot be made to tell secrets while experiencing hypnosiss.  It is simply a tool that will enable you to tap into your mind's power and take control of your life.

Hypnosis can simply be defined as a state of heightened suggestibility in which you're able to reprogram your mind and body for success.  It's an integrative process of rebuilding habits and behaviors, as well as, emotions, beliefs, and feelings.

Have you ever found yourself completely immersed in an activity to the exclusion of everything else? That is a natural trance state. Common examples are: forgetting about everyone around you at a movie theater, driving past an exit on the highway while "zoning", or working/reading so intently that the hours have flown by without realizing it or hearing anyone speak to you. That's hypnosis!

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Yes!  Anyone who is willing to be hypnotized can be hypnotized.   A common misconception of hypnosis is a client thinking that they are "too strong-willed" to be hypnotized. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The stronger your ability to focus and concentrate, the faster and easier you will go into hypnosis.

Will I be asleep?

No.  Hypnosis is actually a heightened state of awareness.  You will be completely cognizant of your surroundings. You will hear cars outside or noises next door and always my voice--confirming you are alert and in control the entire time.  We also employ a number of techniques utilizing post-hypnotic suggestions and you will remember everything that happened during your session!

Is Hypnosis dangerous?

Hypnosis is a natural ability of the mind that we all experience daily. You will not lose control (you actually gain it!), be compelled to do anything against your will (you choose to follow suggestions based on your own values and will), and can get up at any time during the process.  The use of hypnosis has been recognized by the American Medical Association since 1958.  It is completely safe when practiced by an experienced, professionally certified hypnotist. It is only dangerous while driving or operating machinery, so you should not listen to hypnosis audio products in those situations.  There has not been one documented case of hypnosis doing harm to a person.

What does it feel like?

By definition, hypnosis is NOT a state of relaxation, but rather, a state of focus. Because many issues are related to stress or anxiety, we do seek a relaxed state to assist in making the changes necessary.  Most people report feeling very relaxed or floating. Many clients are surprised at how "normal" the experience feels.   Television and Movies have portrayed hypnosis as Sleep, Trance, or a Magic Feeling with you under the Hypnotist's mind-control; such nonsense.  Your mind will be alert and perceptive of the suggestions it is receiving. You will be focused on your experience and/or the words of the suggestions you are receiving.

How do I know it will work?

The success of your experience is dependant on two factors - the client's willingness for change and the skills of the hypnotist.  You must want the benefits of change because You are ready; not because of pressures or urgings of others.  If you are fed up with your situation (such as coughing everyday, feeling awkward in a swimsuit, or sweating when speaking to a group) you are primed for sucess!  Hypnosis is not a "one size fits all" process.
